Bird Bath
An antiquated bathroom, located on the garden level of the brownstone was reconfigured, along with adjacent laundry and storage areas, to create easier access for an elderly relative. To economize, wallpaper was substituted for tile on all but the wet walls, where a super-flat, graphic, rhomboid-shaped tile by Ann Sacks was chosen. Working with wallpaper, a fundamentally decorative material eschewed by most architects, was a pleasant surprise. In fact, the architectural materials were chosen to complement the wallpaper and include a polished mosaic Nero Marquina basketweave mosaic floor and a white console sink with blackened plumbing fixtures by Lacava.
